Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace is a five-stars hotel built in Liberty style in 1910; it represents much more than a prestigious Hotel: it embodies the accommodation art according to the taste and the most authentic Italian tradition. The details care, the finishing touch, the numerous tasteful and antique objects, the art pieces, make this Grand Hotel on the Lake Como shore, an extraordinary, fascinating place, a proper landmark of well living.
The birth of Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace is due to a gentleman from Bellagio, Enea Gandola, who in 1910 chose this extraordinary ground, bordering with the park of Villa Carlotta, to build a Grand Hotel, suitable for the top-quality international tourism of that time. It was a rich and cultured tourism coming from England, Germany, France and Austria, from Belgium and Switzerland, even from tsars’ Russia.
The ground, which formed some terraces, belonged to Villa Poncetta, a building from the beginning of the XVIIII century belonging to Emilia Sommariva, Villa Carlotta proprietor’s daughter (today Villa Poncetta has become an integrant part of the Hotel and is called Villa Emilia in its proprietor’s honour). Enea Gandola and his wife Orsolina had travelled all over Europe and loved beautiful.
After their return to Italy they decided to create something, which could express, in the middle of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, class and elegance.
They chose this location because, from the natural terraces of the ground, you can admire an incomparable scenery: simply the most beautiful view on Lake Como. So in 1910 they inaugurated the Grand Hotel. It followed a period of great splendour till the beginning of the First World War, which changed the world. For more than a year the Grand hotel was requisitioned and used as a clinic for the army. Then peace came back and it began the rebirth. In the meantime the tourism had changed: the romantic tour, with cultural and sentimental goals, was replace by the pleasure trip, the relaxing holiday stay.
In 1922 the Gandolas sold the Grand Hotel to an entrepreneurs group from the Lake Como, who then sold to Sampietro family that remained proprietor of it till 1975. The outbreak of the Second World War brought with it the collapse of the international tourism but the Hotel never closed down, even in those hard years, which have been followed then by years of splendour and revival.
Today, after Sampietro family, it is another family, and not a multinational chain, which goes on with Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace tradition. Every year important investments, both what renovations concerns, and what new activities and improvements concerns, guarantee the maintenance of its big structure, of its spirit and of the services efficiency and modernity. And the Grand Hotel 5° star, which places it in the elite of the Italian hotellerie, is witness of its success. |

* The Regina Restaurant, the main restaurant of the Hotel, situated in a splendid hall dominated by furniture with shades of blue and gold, offers dishes, typical of the local tradition but reassessed, together with a refined international cuisine.
* Whereas the luxury Restaurant Grill is dedicated to those people who wish to have dinner à la Carte, for a special evening and to taste the Chef’s best dishes. A romantic and relaxing place, ideal for a dinner by candlelight with some pleasant background music. From May to September the Grill moves to the superb terrace where you can enjoy all the charm of the Lake Como. The rose sunset of the Grigne Mountains is really priceless, the spectacle of Bellagio lights, which are reflected, together with the moon, in the lake. For a more informal dinner you can choose to taste a fondue or a Raclette at the wine bar Escale added to a very good glass wine.
* The Candle Bar:
The Candle Bar is the main meeting point, in the heart of the Hotel. Besides the elegant and comfortable lounge, it offers a wide terrace lit up by candlelight, with view on the Lake, where it is possible to sip a drink in the shade of the sun blinds during sunny days or caressed by the evening breeze with the background of the piano notes .
* The Beach Bar:
The Bar of the floating swimming pool dominates the Lake and offers a smashing view on Bellagio and Punta Balbianello. It is ideal for those people who don’t want to renounce to the sun and to relax surrounded by a unique landscape because it is situated on the floating pontoon next to the Solarium of fine sand.
* The Pool Bar:
The Pool Bar is situated in the Hotel park, in the shade of the most ancient tree among its centuries old ones, surrounded by many-coloured wreaths. It offers a wide choice of snacks and salads for those people who like spending their day at the swimming pool and want to have a light meal outside.
* Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace offers to its guests many services connected to sport and wellness: at their disposal, besides three outside swimming pools, a tennis court of synthetic grass, a gym, a water skiing teacher to be booked at the reception and a health way in the middle of the park, leading to the hill top, from where you can enjoy the most beautiful view on the Lake Como.
* Since July Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace has added, with pride, to its two swimming pools a distinguishing element, rare of its kind, destined to leave an unforgettable memory in all its guests: a floating swimming pool in the lake waters. “Water On The Water”, a crystal-clear water break in the blue of the Lake Como, the indescribable sensation of a swim just opposite Bellagio. “La Piscina dei Fiori” deep in the green of its magnificent park, surrounded by colours and centuries old trees, is dedicated to those people who like relaxing surrounded by the nature. “La Piscina del ‘900” , the original swimming pool of the Hotel, built after the Palace, ideal for children because of its dimensions, is situated on one of the panoramic terraces, with a smashing view on the Lake.
* In one of the attached bodies of the Hotel, deep in the green of its park, there is the Fitness Club, where the most sport-loving guests can spend many pleasant moments. The gym, provided with modern electronic equipment, has got big arched windows overlooking the garden and gives you the possibility to feel deep in the nature even when you are doing some exercise.
* Meeting Centre "Le Azalee":
Just inside the threshold of the garden behind the hotel an enchanting jasmines arcade leads you to the Congress Centre “Le Azalee”, a structure expressly made for meetings, business seminars and conferences, which can accommodate up to 250 persons. As a real Meeting Centre, “Le Azalee” is provided with the most modern equipment: monitors and large and small screens, simultaneous translation, overhead projectors, organizing secretary, expositive areas, technical assistance. |
