This is a great little hotel for relaxation and touring the region. The hotel was restructured in 2004 from a villa that was originally built towards the end of the 1800’s. The Il Picchio Golf Resort is unique in that the hotel buildings still retain the original architecture.
The Il Picchio Golf Resort is located in Rovittello, Castiglione di Sicilia, which is actually 45 km from Catania city and 60 km from the Fontanarossa (Catania) airport on the “Etna wine road”. To get the most out of your stay here you will need a car. |

Il Picchio Golf Resort provides a great base from which you can easily explore the most important Sicilian sites.
But it is important to have a car to get the most out of your stay here because the hotel is a 60 Km drive from Catania airport and public transport to and from Rovittello is not terribly good.
Within just a few kilometers from the hotel you are able to find horse trekking, rafting, walking, quad and mountain bike tours
The popular resort of Taormina is only 20 km away. There is a Golf club just 800 meters from the hotel. Wine cellars are dotted all around the hotel
There are many restaurants and pizzerias close to hotel. It is also possible to visit other important Sicilian cities such as Palermo, Siracusa, Agrigento, Caltagirono in a day trip. If you love the sea, in the summer you can rent a boat for a trip at Giardini Naxos (10 Km). If you love the snow, in winter you can ski on Mount Etna |
