Built by playboy homebuilder Larry Imig in 1946 the resort hotel enjoyed unparalleled success. In addition to its impressive guest list, several prominent local figures were permanent residents, including clothier Bill Solof, restaurateur Ray Lubach and San Diego Padre baseball managers Lefty O'Doul and Bucky Harris. True to its original structure is the Olympic-size terrazzo tile swimming pool, designed by Tarzan’s Johnny Weissmuller.
Although the final echoes of the big bands have died away, entertainment still continues nightly at the long-established Red Fox Room and Piano Bar which serves exceptional American Cuisine in a casual atmosphere; or enjoy the “L” Bar & Grill’s poolside patio. |

Improvements include kitchen upgrades, a newly designed bar, a new pool table, and all new finishes. "L" bar & grill features daily specials, full bar service, and weekly live entertainment. Guests can also enjoy the outdoor terrace and fire pit that overlooks Lafayette Hotel's Olympic-sized pool.

This restaurant serves a menu full of red meat, including hamburgers and steak dinners.
