Originally built as a corn mill in 1840, it was moved 54 kilometres to Launceston and was rebuilt as a hotel over 130 years later - stone by stone.

There are a number of attractions close to the Leisure Inns Penny Royal Hotel in Launceston. Tamar River. Tamar precinct, Launceston city center, Cataract gorge and Boag's brewery are the nearby attractions.The Tamar River is an estuary and is situated in the North of Tasmania along with Launceston.
From the mouth of the South Esk River at King's Bridge, Cataract Gorge expands and goes to the Trevallyn hydro electric dam. You will reach the first basin within fifteen minutes. This first basin is well known as a swimming spot. The reserve is situated on the northern side of the basin; the reserve is called Cliff Grounds. It is a wonderful view with peacocks roaming within the reserve. |
